Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centered therapeutic interventions under the supervision of the occupational therapy team
- Assist with assessments, document patient progress, and update care plans accurately
- Implement treatment plans to improve patients’ functional independence and quality of life
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to coordinate seamless care
- Educate patients and families on home programs and adaptive strategies
- Maintain professional documentation and timely charting in accordance with facility policies
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discharge planning and continuity of care
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Active state certification/licensure as an OTA in California or ability to obtain prior to start
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Clinical experience in rehabilitation, outpatient, or skilled settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care
- Ability to provide safe, compassionate care and to follow established treatment plans
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program (Associate degree or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment for functional recovery
- Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, and documentation
- Comfortable working with diverse patient populations and various diagnoses
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and ability to prioritize caseload
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with infection control practices and facility compliance standards
