Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat adults with complex speech, language and swallowing disorders in an inpatient rehab setting
• Perform and interpret MBS studies and develop individualized treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based dysphagia interventions including VitalStim and other device-assisted therapies
• Document all assessments and treatment plans accurately and timely in the EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care and discharge planning
• Educate patients, families and caregivers to support safe swallowing and functional communication

Qualifications

• Current VA state license (required)
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, with experience treating adult and medical populations
• Experience in inpatient rehab settings preferred
• Familiarity with MBS studies and dysphagia assessment/treatment
• Comfortable using EMR systems and providing clear clinical documentation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical skills in swallowing assessment and treatment
• Experience with MBS Suite, VitalStim, IOPI, EMST150 and Bioness BITs
• Ability to manage a patient caseload in an inpatient rehab environment
• Excellent interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Patient-focused approach with flexibility to float to acute areas as needed
• Good time management and accurate EMR documentation skills
