Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of up to five orthopedic post-operative patients independently and safely
• Deliver high-quality post-operative and surgical nursing care, including pain management
• Perform dressing changes and assist with aspirations and other common orthopedic procedures
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with surgeons, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to drive positive patient outcomes
• Provide patient and family education focused on recovery, mobility, and discharge planning
• Maintain a positive attitude and model teamwork to support unit morale and patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (eligible to practice in Colorado or compact licensure as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with orthopedic surgical or surgical unit experience
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage up to 5 patients on a surgical/orthopedic unit
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Comfortable with dressing changes, aspirations, postoperative assessments, and pain management
• Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and proven ability to work well in a team

• Orthopedic surgical nursing and post-operative care best practices
• Pain management approaches for orthopedic patients
• Wound care and dressing change techniques
• Aseptic technique and safe aspiration procedures
• Proficient documentation and workflow in Meditech EMR
• Patient assessment, monitoring, and escalation of care when needed
• Team collaboration and patient-centered communication
