Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess communication and swallowing disorders using evidence-based evaluation tools and clinical reasoning
- Design and deliver individualized treatment plans that promote functional communication and quality of life
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — nurses, physicians, OT/PT, educators, and family — to coordinate care
- Document progress clearly and timely, using facility systems and standardized outcome measures
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers for carryover and long-term success
- Adapt therapy approaches for diverse populations and varying acuity levels to ensure optimal outcomes
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Valid California Speech-Language Pathology license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent) and ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Clinical experience evaluating and treating a range of communication and swallowing disorders
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with therapy outcome measurement
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort working in a multidisciplinary environment
- Current BLS/CPR certification as required by facility policies
- Willingness to complete facility-specific onboarding and credentialing for travel assignments
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in clinical assessment and treatment planning for speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing
- Proficient with evidence-based therapy techniques and outcome measurement
- Comfortable using electronic medical records and producing clear clinical notes
- Strong verbal and written communication for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Adaptable problem-solver who tailors therapy to individual needs and cultural contexts
