Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess communication and swallowing disorders using evidence-based evaluation tools and clinical reasoning
• Design and deliver individualized treatment plans that promote functional communication and quality of life
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — nurses, physicians, OT/PT, educators, and family — to coordinate care
• Document progress clearly and timely, using facility systems and standardized outcome measures
• Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers for carryover and long-term success
• Adapt therapy approaches for diverse populations and varying acuity levels to ensure optimal outcomes
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Valid California Speech-Language Pathology license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent) and ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) preferred
• Clinical experience evaluating and treating a range of communication and swallowing disorders
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with therapy outcome measurement
• Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort working in a multidisciplinary environment
• Current BLS/CPR certification as required by facility policies
• Willingness to complete facility-specific onboarding and credentialing for travel assignments

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in clinical assessment and treatment planning for speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing
• Proficient with evidence-based therapy techniques and outcome measurement
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and producing clear clinical notes
• Strong verbal and written communication for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Adaptable problem-solver who tailors therapy to individual needs and cultural contexts
