Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate communication, swallowing, and cognitive-communication needs and develop individualized treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based speech and language therapy to promote functional gains
- Collaborate with rehabilitation team members to coordinate comprehensive care
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers to support carryover and community reintegration
- Provide float coverage between facilities when needed, adapting quickly to new settings and teams
Qualifications
- Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or eligible to obtain state licensure
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred where applicable
- Comfort and experience working in a rehabilitation/contract setting and with float assignments
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and collaborative communication
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related graduate degree (typical requirement)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders
- Familiarity with evidence-based therapy approaches and outcome measurement
- Excellent verbal and written communication with patients and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt therapy plans across different facility environments
- Strong organizational skills for timely documentation and caseload management
