Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and deliver skilled nursing care based on the physician’s plan and accepted nursing standards
• Provide direct patient care: perform nursing assessments, administer medications, deliver treatments, respond to call lights and alarms, and assist with transfers
• Evaluate patient response to treatment and collaborate with the care team to update and improve individualized care plans
• Process and execute physician/provider orders accurately and in a timely manner
• Follow up on medication changes and order clarifications to ensure continuity and safety of care
• Care for medical oncology, step-down, and general medical overflow patients with compassion and clinical expertise

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license required (LARA and/or Nursys must show active status)
• Minimum 2+ years Med-Surg experience — required
• Oncology nursing experience — required
• Comfortable admitting and managing step-down patients — required
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications — required
• Prior travel nursing experience — highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience — highly preferred
• Two supervisory references completed within the last two years — required
• Candidates must be outside the facility’s 50-mile local radius restriction (facility will not consider local candidates)

Education

• Active Michigan RN license required; specific degree level not listed in the posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Nursing assessment and clinical judgment for oncology and step-down patients
• Medication administration and medication reconciliation
• Patient treatments, transfers, and responding promptly to alarms
• Processing and following physician/provider orders accurately
• Care planning, evaluation, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record systems
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
