Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment and medication management for patients in a correctional mental health setting
• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based treatment tailored to the needs of adults in custody
• Lead and participate in case reviews and treatment planning with the mental health team
• Train and mentor staff during the 1–2 week onboarding period to ensure consistent clinical practice
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and follow facility policies and reporting requirements
• Collaborate with nursing, social work, and security staff to promote safety and continuity of care
• Respond professionally to crisis situations and contribute to a therapeutic, recovery-focused environment

Qualifications

• Clinical experience in psychiatry and mental health (experience working with adult populations preferred)
• Availability to provide weekend coverage (Saturday and Sunday) and attend 1–2 weeks of weekday training
• Comfort working in a correctional facility environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong clinical documentation and communication skills
• Willingness to complete facility-specific onboarding and any required background checks/clearances

Education

• MD or DO in Psychiatry (or equivalent psychiatric training)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in psychiatric evaluation and medication management
• Knowledge of mental health treatment modalities and crisis intervention
• Ability to train and mentor clinical staff
• Strong clinical judgment and risk assessment skills
• Clear, professional communication with patients and team members
• Familiarity with maintaining accurate medical records in institutional settings
