Shift Type: Rotating day/night shifts, 3x12-hour schedule per week (Day: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Night: 7:30 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend coverage; on-call required; floating to equivalent or lower acuity units as needed
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based neurocritical care to adult patients, including post-operative neurosurgery and stroke patients
- Manage ventilated patients and titrate ventilator settings in collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Monitor and manage intracranial pressure (ICP) and external ventricular drains (EVDs) with vigilance and precision
- Perform advanced hemodynamic management including vasoactive and cardiac drip titration
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs), dysrhythmias, and 12-lead EKGs to guide timely interventions
- Start and maintain IVs, manage central and arterial lines, and oversee blood product administration
- Respond to emergencies and participate in Rapid Response and trauma-level workflows
- Document thoroughly in Epic and participate in interdisciplinary rounds to support care coordination
- Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed, contributing flexibility and teamwork
- Support infection prevention, isolation precautions, and safe procedural practice at the bedside
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU / Neuro Critical Care nursing experience
- BCLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA) certifications required
- Epic EHR experience required
- Previous travel experience preferred; note that first-time travelers will be screened
- Ability and willingness to float to equivalent or lower acuity units within the organization
- On-call availability as required by the unit
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in ventilator management and mechanical ventilation care
- Proficient with intracranial pressure monitoring and external ventricular drain (EVD) care
- Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Comfort with arterial line management, central line care, and phlebotomy
- Skilled in suctioning (ETT/NT), BiPAP/CPAP support, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Familiarity with postoperative neurosurgical care, tracheostomy and PEG management
- Ability to perform focused neuro assessments and acute stroke care (CVA management)
- Competence in infection prevention, isolation precautions, and procedural monitoring
- Solid teamwork and communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
