Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Stabilize critically ill and injured patients using evidence-based emergency nursing practices
• Administer medications and therapies safely, following hospital protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
• Document patient care thoroughly and communicate clear handoffs during shift changes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and a culture of patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ability to verify licensure/certification) — must meet state requirements for Iowa
• Current BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated experience in emergency nursing or Emergency Room care
• Ability to pass Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and Trinity skills checklist
• Willingness to complete required health screenings: fit test, Trinity 10 panel drug screen, immunizations (Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella), and TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Ability to pass Trinity color vision and physical/health statement as required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and rapid assessment skills for emergency presentations
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, medication administration, and basic airway management
• Comfort managing trauma and acute medical emergencies
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure situations
• Sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, and time management
• Accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical record systems
