Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room for orthopedic and neuro cases
• Prepare the OR environment, maintain sterile technique and ensure all instrumentation and supplies are ready
• Serve in scrub or circulating roles as needed and support the surgical team throughout procedures
• Perform accurate counts, document care, and support efficient room turnover
• Respond to on-call assignments professionally and promptly, providing dependable coverage
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding perioperative expectations and postoperative care
• Adhere to facility and regional performance standards and participate in quality improvement

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (ability to obtain Nebraska licensure or valid compact privileges preferred)
• Operating Room experience required with demonstrated Orthopedic OR experience
• Neuro OR experience required (Level 1 or Level 2 OR experience as specified)
• Prior on-call experience including weekend and weekday call rotations
• Comfort working a 4x10 schedule and adapting to rotating on-call weeks

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of perioperative practices, sterile technique and infection control
• Familiarity with orthopedic and neurosurgical instrumentation and setup
• Ability to function effectively in both scrub and circulating roles
• Excellent situational awareness, critical thinking and time management in fast-paced OR settings
• Collaborative communication skills to work seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams
• Reliability in on-call coverage and ability to manage schedule transitions
