Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess maternity and neonatal patients regularly and deliver skilled, evidence-based nursing care per physician orders and accepted nursing standards.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following up on changes and clarifications promptly.
• Assist patients with transfers, respond to call lights and alarms, and provide timely hands-on support during labor and delivery.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, evaluate, and update individualized care plans to improve patient outcomes.
• Process and carry out physician/provider orders efficiently and document care in a complete and timely manner.
• Evaluate treatment effectiveness and contribute suggestions to revise plans of care, advocating for best practices in maternal and neonatal care.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of recent Labor & Delivery experience (required)
• Active Michigan RN license (LARA and/or Nursys verification required)
• Active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Active NRP certification (required)
• Skills checklist current to within 1 year, pertinent to Labor & Delivery (required)
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years (required)
• Ability to process physician orders accurately and perform ordered care timely
• Willingness to follow facility scheduling rules and submit scheduling preferences at time of submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery clinical expertise and neonatal care fundamentals
• Medication administration and safe treatment practices
• Patient assessment, care planning, and treatment evaluation skills
• Efficient physician order processing and clear clinical documentation
• Comfort working in acute care hospital settings and responding to alarms/call lights
• Collaborative communication with physicians, CNMs, and interdisciplinary team members
