Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under OTR supervision to help patients regain independence
- Perform assessments and support development of individualized treatment plans
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to achieve measurable patient goals
- Teach patients and families therapeutic techniques and home programs for lasting outcomes
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in the medical record
- Monitor patient status, report changes, and adjust care as directed
- Support safe discharge planning and connect patients with community resources
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Active state certification/registration to practice in Maryland, or eligibility to obtain prior to start
- BLS/CPR certification required or willingness to obtain
- Experience in rehabilitation or outpatient settings preferred
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Completion of an accredited OTA program and COTA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ADL/IADL training and basic adaptive equipment recommendations
- Familiarity with therapeutic techniques used in rehab settings
- Basic splinting and therapeutic activity skills
- Comfortable with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
- Ability to follow care plans, measure outcomes, and communicate progress clearly
