Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under OTR supervision to help patients regain independence
• Perform assessments and support development of individualized treatment plans
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to achieve measurable patient goals
• Teach patients and families therapeutic techniques and home programs for lasting outcomes
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in the medical record
• Monitor patient status, report changes, and adjust care as directed
• Support safe discharge planning and connect patients with community resources

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Active state certification/registration to practice in Maryland, or eligibility to obtain prior to start
• BLS/CPR certification required or willingness to obtain
• Experience in rehabilitation or outpatient settings preferred
• Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Completion of an accredited OTA program and COTA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ADL/IADL training and basic adaptive equipment recommendations
• Familiarity with therapeutic techniques used in rehab settings
• Basic splinting and therapeutic activity skills
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Ability to follow care plans, measure outcomes, and communicate progress clearly
