Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret strips, escalating concerns promptly to the team
• Titrate pitocin and other ordered drips safely and accurately per protocol
• Circulate in the OR for cesarean deliveries when needed, collaborating smoothly with surgical techs and anesthesia
• Deliver couplet care: care for mother and newborn together, including newborn assessment and initial stabilization
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC and communicate critical information during handoffs
• Participate in unit orientation and team-based coverage, including floating to support unit needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Kansas (or compact RN eligible) required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience, L&D/OB experience strongly preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS and NRP; Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required
• Proven experience with LDRP/couplet care and circulating in the OR for C-sections
• Comfort with titrating drips (pitocin) and managing common obstetric emergencies per AWHONN guidelines
• Experience with EPIC charting and fetal monitoring systems (GE EFM, OBIX) preferred
• Ability to pass facility credentialing and submit required documentation (driver's license, etc.)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring and interpretation skills
• Newborn care and neonatal resuscitation basics
• Postpartum assessment and care for mother and baby
• OR circulating knowledge for C-section procedures
• Medication titration and IV drip management (pitocin experience)
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and OB-specific systems (GE EFM, OBIX)
• Team communication, triage decision-making and adherence to AWHONN ratios/guidelines
