Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide thorough, compassionate stepdown care by assessing and monitoring patients on telemetry
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to changes using ACLS and rhythm expertise
- Apply NIHSS and other stroke-related assessments to support timely, evidence-based interventions
- Administer medications safely and accurately while documenting according to facility standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans to improve outcomes
- Maintain required competencies, certifications, and documentation to ensure excellent patient care
Qualifications
- Active RN license with Nursys verification (state licensure must be in good standing)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification and experience with stroke assessments preferred
- DCI/BVP competency as listed in the job checklist
- Completed Prime competency exams and skills checklist (Pharmacology, Rhythm Interpretation, Core Competencies, Specialty Exam)
- Ability to pass background check, 10-panel drug screening, fit test, and required immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, TB, Varicella, Tdap)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Stepdown-level patient assessment and critical thinking
- Stroke care principles and NIHSS application
- Medication administration and basic pharmacology knowledge
- Proficient charting and documentation in electronic health records
- Strong communication and teamwork in fast-paced clinical settings
