Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess stepdown/telemetry patients using continuous patient monitoring to detect changes early
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to arrhythmias and acute events
- Administer medications and therapies safely following established protocols and basic pharmacology principles
- Perform timely and accurate documentation in the patient record and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care for progressive care patients, including stroke evaluations using NIHSS when indicated
- Collaborate with physicians, unit leadership, and ancillary teams to coordinate transitions of care
- Participate in unit-based competency testing and maintain required certifications and skills
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to be verified via Nursys) — current and in good standing
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications required or completion upon start as indicated
- Comfortable and experienced with telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Willingness to work 12-hour night shifts and a rotating schedule with one weekend per month
- Ability to complete required pre-employment screenings: drug screen (10-panel), fit test, TB, immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza) and physical/health statement
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry and rhythm interpretation skills
- Working knowledge of stepdown/progressive care patient needs and interventions
- Basic pharmacology knowledge relevant to acute and progressive care
- Proficiency with continuous patient monitoring systems and quick clinical decision-making
- Familiarity with stroke assessment (NIHSS) and related workflows
- Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced clinical environments
