Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to neonatal, infant, pediatric and adolescent patients
• Perform both scrub and circulating duties with strict adherence to sterile technique
• Lead and participate in Universal Protocol time-outs to ensure patient safety
• Administer and monitor blood and blood products according to policy
• Use Epic for accurate, timely charting and communication with the care team
• Monitor cardiac status and intervene appropriately during intraoperative care
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia and multimodal teams to coordinate efficient operating room flow
• Support teaching moments for colleagues and step into charge duties when needed

Qualifications

• Current CA RN license (required)
• Minimum 3 years pediatric OR experience
• AHA BLS required
• PALS required
• Trauma Level I experience required; Trauma Level II preferred
• Epic experience required for charting
• CNOR preferred and scrub experience in pediatric cases highly desired
• COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required per facility guideline (medical/religious exemptions allowed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative/OR nursing and pediatric perioperative care
• Scrub technique and circulating nurse duties across multiple specialties
• Cardiac monitoring and conscious sedation monitoring
• Administration and monitoring of blood and blood products
• Infection control and Universal Protocol (time out) procedure
• Familiarity with cell saver, electrosurgical units and common OR instrumentation
• Ability to start peripheral IVs and manage wound care
• Comfortable with a broad case mix including cardiovascular, general, neuro, ENT, ophthalmology and pediatric specialties
