Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to improve patient mobility and function
- Assist with patient evaluations, implement treatment plans, and adjust care based on therapist direction
- Provide gait training, therapeutic exercises, and safe use of assistive devices to promote independence
- Document patient progress clearly and promptly in the electronic medical record
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and strategies for continued recovery
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated, high-quality care
- Maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure safety and infection control standards
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Maryland or ability to obtain state licensure prior to start
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (current or willing to obtain)
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility credentialing requirements
- Strong communication skills, professional bedside manner, and ability to work well in a team-based setting
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, exercise prescription, and mobility training
- Familiarity with safe patient handling and use of assistive devices
- Comfortable with clinical documentation and basic computer skills for EMR entry
- Clinical reasoning skills to implement therapist-directed treatment plans
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment
