Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy services as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to support patient recovery
- Implement individualized treatment plans focused on restoring daily living skills and independence
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, nurses, and the rehab team to coordinate high-quality care
- Document patient evaluations, progress, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic strategies, home programs, and adaptive equipment
- Maintain a safe, organized therapeutic environment and follow facility protocols
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discharge planning to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Active state licensure or ability to obtain COTA licensure in New Mexico prior to start
- Experience in rehabilitation or outpatient settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team approach
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of occupational therapy principles and rehabilitation techniques
- Skilled in ADL training, adaptive equipment recommendations, and functional activity-based interventions
- Good clinical documentation and clinical reasoning skills
- Ability to educate patients and caregivers in an empathetic, clear manner
- Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to care planning
