Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement occupational therapy treatments and assistive interventions as directed by the supervising OT
- Provide hands-on therapeutic care that helps patients regain independence in daily living activities
- Document patient progress clearly and timely to support treatment planning and continuity of care
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to create holistic care plans
- Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques, home programs, and equipment use
- Assist with therapeutic activities, adaptive equipment setup, and safe mobility practice
- Maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) — current certification required
- Active state licensure/registration as required for practice in New Hampshire
- Experience in rehabilitation or outpatient/contract settings preferred
- Strong communication and documentation skills; comfortable working in an interdisciplinary team
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred or willing to obtain
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques for activities of daily living and adaptive equipment
- Skilled in patient assessment, progress tracking, and treatment modification
- Proficient with documentation standards and electronic health record systems
- Ability to teach and motivate patients and caregivers with empathy and clarity
- Strong teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced clinical setting
