Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess functional abilities and create individualized occupational therapy plans that help patients regain independence
- Implement therapeutic interventions and adaptive techniques to improve daily living skills
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists and family members to coordinate care and support patient goals
- Document patient progress clearly and timely to ensure continuity of care
- Train and supervise support staff and COTAs when applicable to maintain high-quality therapy services
- Modify activities and equipment recommendations to match changing patient needs and safety requirements
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR) in Vermont or eligible for Vermont licensure
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) considered for COTA-class roles
- New graduates welcome — we will consider clinicians new to the field
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a patient-centered approach
- Reliable professional references and ability to pass background checks as required
Education
- Entry-level: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy or OTA program (BS/BA, MOT, MS or OTA diploma/certificate as applicable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in functional assessments, ADL training and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Experience with documentation in clinical settings and familiarity with therapeutic modalities
- Ability to develop clear, measurable treatment goals and progress reports
- Comfortable working across disciplines and educating patients and families
- Good clinical reasoning, time management and prioritization skills
