Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients promptly, obtaining histories and vital signs to guide immediate care
• Initiate life-saving interventions independently in emergent, life-threatening situations
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and participate actively in individualized care planning
• Process physician/provider orders accurately and follow up on medication or order clarifications
• Provide clear discharge and follow-up instructions, educating patients and families for safe transitions
• Answer ambulance radio and provide prehospital orders when needed
• Assist physicians with procedures and perform a range of complex and simple nursing skills
• Operate and troubleshoot sophisticated clinical equipment in a fast-paced environment
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts and evaluate effectiveness of treatment plans

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (LARA/Nursys verification required)
• Minimum 2+ years of Emergency Room (ER) experience (required)
• Active American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
• Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required)
• Active Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (required)
• Travel nursing experience highly preferred
• Two supervisory references completed within the last two years
• Current ER skills checklist (within 1 year) and complete work history at time of submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and acute patient assessment with strong clinical judgment
• Direct patient care across acuity levels including emergent and non-acute cases
• Medication and order processing with attention to detail
• Comfort providing patient and family education and emotional support
• Experience working with Epic EMR
• Ability to answer ambulance radios and direct prehospital care
• Familiarity with emergency procedures and assisting physicians
• Comfort operating sophisticated medical equipment and adapting in stressful situations
• Team collaboration and participation in care planning and quality improvement
