Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends; primary night shift 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM with occasional day coverage 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM as needed. Schedule includes every third weekend and possible every-other weekend. Position typically guarantees 36 hours per week.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Independently manage antepartum and active labor patients with confidence and compassion
- Provide couplet care for postpartum mother-baby units, ensuring safe transitions and recovery
- Circulate in C-section procedures and support perioperative care for obstetric patients
- Administer and monitor medications related to labor management such as oxytocin and magnesium sulfate
- Manage epidural care and hemodynamic support including blood pressure medications and fluids
- Triage obstetric patients, collaborate with NICU and other specialists for high-risk cases
- Document care accurately in EPIC and maintain excellent charting standards
- Participate in orientation, classroom training and competency testing to maintain high-quality care
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience with demonstrated antepartum and intrapartum competency
- Comfortable providing couplet care (mother and newborn) and floating between L&D and postpartum
- Certifications required: BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EPIC experience preferred for charting and documentation
- Valid driver's license required at submittal (used to verify 50-mile radius compliance)
- Ability to pass orientation skills exam with a 90% score (open-book resources provided during orientation)
- Willingness to adhere to facility policies including fingernail/artificial nail restrictions and dress code (Navy Blue)
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of high-risk obstetrics and antepartum management
- Proficiency with labor induction and augmentation protocols including oxytocin management
- Experience with vaginal deliveries, C-section circulating and postpartum recoveries
- Comfort managing epidurals, magnesium sulfate, IV pumps and blood pressure medications
- Familiarity with SCDs, neonatal resuscitation basics and NICU collaboration
- Ability to triage effectively, prioritize care and communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of AWHONN guidelines and safe staffing practices in L&D settings
- Critical thinking, teamwork and patient-centered communication skills
