Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform safe, accurate venipuncture and capillary draws for patients of all ages
• Ensure correct patient identification and specimen labeling before collection
• Process, handle, and prepare specimens according to protocol and chain-of-custody requirements
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of workspace and adhere to infection control procedures
• Complete Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam as required
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation
• Document procedures and specimen details accurately in the assigned system or logs
• Collaborate with clinical staff to support efficient specimen transport and testing workflow

Qualifications

• Certified Phlebotomist (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• DCI/BVP certification (required)
• Ability to complete Prime competency and specialty exams and skills checklist
• License/certificate verification as part of onboarding
• Must be available to work January-February and able to start the required week with no exceptions
• Successful completion of required health screenings and clear background verification

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven phlebotomy technique and venipuncture skills
• Strong attention to detail and specimen labeling accuracy
• Knowledge of infection prevention and standard precautions
• Ability to follow clinical protocols and complete competency exams
• Good patient communication and bedside manner
• Ability to perform routine compliance screenings (drug screen, fit test, TB testing, etc.)
