Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for patients across the ED
- Assess, triage, and stabilize patients arriving with urgent and critical needs
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely and accurately
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and intervene per protocol for acute events
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the health record
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans
- Support coverage and flexibility by working across both campus locations
Qualifications
- Current RN license (must be authorized to practice in Louisiana or able to obtain)
- Clinical experience in Emergency Department nursing preferred
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS preferred and highly encouraged
- Ability and willingness to work night shifts and float between campuses
- Strong clinical judgment, ability to work in fast-paced settings, and teamwork mindset
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- Current RN licensure required
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing assessment and triage skills
- Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and acute care interventions
- Cardiac monitoring and basic life support skills
- Trauma assessment and stabilization techniques
- Clear written and verbal communication, and solid documentation skills
- Comfort working in an electronic health record environment
