Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate speech, language, cognition and swallowing function for post-acute patients
- Design and deliver individualized treatment plans that improve communication and safety
- Document patient progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with nurses, PT/OT and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate therapy goals
- Educate patients and caregivers with practical strategies to carryover gains at home
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive, patient-first culture
Qualifications
- Active or eligible Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license for California
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical certification
- Experience evaluating and treating adult post-acute or rehab populations preferred
- Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with relevant therapy workflows
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (typical requirement for SLP roles)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in dysphagia assessment and safe swallowing strategies
- Proficient in cognitive-communication and language therapy approaches
- Comfortable with timed documentation and electronic health record systems
- Ability to adapt therapy to functional goals and discharge planning
- Strong patient- and family-centered teaching skills
