Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations and develop person-centered treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based therapy to support communication, swallowing, and cognitive-communication goals
- Document progress clearly and timely, using facility charting standards
- Collaborate with rehabilitation team members, nursing staff, and families to optimize outcomes
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to carry over gains into daily life
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active or eligible New Mexico SLP licensure (Agencies must have NM caregivers account as noted)
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent graduate training
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred (or working toward certification)
- Experience working with adult rehabilitation populations preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification as required by facility policy
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or related graduate degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of speech, language, cognition, and dysphagia
- Familiarity with evidence-based SLP interventions and standardized assessments
- Comfortable with interdisciplinary communication and care planning
- Strong documentation and electronic charting abilities
- Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time effectively in a busy rehab setting
