Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations and develop person-centered treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based therapy to support communication, swallowing, and cognitive-communication goals
• Document progress clearly and timely, using facility charting standards
• Collaborate with rehabilitation team members, nursing staff, and families to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to carry over gains into daily life
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active or eligible New Mexico SLP licensure (Agencies must have NM caregivers account as noted)
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent graduate training
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred (or working toward certification)
• Experience working with adult rehabilitation populations preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification as required by facility policy

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or related graduate degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment and treatment of speech, language, cognition, and dysphagia
• Familiarity with evidence-based SLP interventions and standardized assessments
• Comfortable with interdisciplinary communication and care planning
• Strong documentation and electronic charting abilities
• Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time effectively in a busy rehab setting
