Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced emergency setting
- Stabilize critically ill or injured patients using evidence-based emergency interventions
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and initiate appropriate treatments promptly
- Administer medications safely and document pharmacologic interventions clearly
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Perform and document comprehensive nursing assessments and reassessments
- Deliver compassionate patient and family education during high-stress moments
- Maintain competency through required skills checks, specialty exams, and continuing education
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Kansas (Nursys verification required)
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications
- NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications as listed by the facility
- Completion of Prime screenings and skills checks (Basic Pharmacology, Rhythm Interpretation, Core Competencies, Specialty Exam)
- Ability to work night shifts and 1-2 weekends in a 4-week rotation
- Compliant with required health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, TB testing, Varicella, Tdap, drug screening, fit test)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing best practices and triage principles
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and acute cardiac care
- Basic pharmacology and safe medication administration
- Critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making
- IV therapy, acute assessment, and stabilization techniques
- Clear, concise documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
