Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the cardiovascular operating room, keeping patient safety front and center
• Assist the surgical team during CVOR procedures, anticipating instrument and supply needs
• Closely monitor hemodynamics and respond promptly to changes in patient status
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure operating room readiness between cases
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and perioperative events with clarity and accuracy
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to optimize outcomes
• Complete required competency exams and skills checklists to maintain practice standards
• Support post-operative handoff and patient education for smooth recovery transitions

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (Nursys verification required)
• Clinical experience in CVOR or related surgical cardiovascular settings (CVOR skill set required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Specialty Exam, and Prime Skills Checklist as required
• Fit test, color-blind screening, and drug screening (minimum 10-panel) completed prior to start
• Up-to-date immunizations and testing: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, TB test, Varicella, Tdap; PPD/Chest X-ray documentation where applicable
• Successful license/certificate verification and physical/health statement

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and CVOR knowledge including sterile technique and instrument familiarity
• Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting intraoperative data
• Proficient in patient assessment, critical thinking, and rapid intervention
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity OR environments
• Familiarity with OR documentation, infection control, and patient safety protocols
• Comfortable with competency testing and continuing education requirements
