Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients across the unit
- Assess, triage, and monitor patients, using strong critical thinking to prioritize care
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and perform clinical procedures safely and accurately
- Perform cardiac monitoring and stroke assessments (NIHSS) to support rapid intervention
- Lead or participate in emergency responses and code situations as needed
- Document patient care thoroughly in the electronic health record and communicate clearly with the care team
- Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and maintain required skills checklists
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Iowa) required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
- Willingness to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
- Current fit test, Trinity 10 panel drug screen, and required immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, and 2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Physical/Health Statement and ability to pass Trinity Color Vision screening
- Strong teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid patient assessment and triage skills with attention to detail
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring and acute care interventions
- Experience with stroke assessment (NIHSS) and trauma care (TNCC)
- Comfortable with IV therapy, medication administration, and EHR documentation
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and lead during emergencies
- Commitment to continuous learning and following evidence-based protocols
