Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients in the post-anesthesia care unit, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition
• Provide high-quality, evidence-based post-anesthesia nursing care following ANA standards
• Coordinate and communicate care with anesthesia, surgical teams and unit staff to ensure smooth handoffs
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC (EPIC experience required)
• Provide leadership on the unit by working cooperatively with clinical personnel and supporting shared governance
• Participate in unit initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of PACU processes
• Maintain required certifications and immunizations to meet facility and agency standards

Qualifications

• Minimum two years RN PACU experience required
• Current RN license to practice in Colorado (must be in good standing)
• EPIC experience required (facility is converting to EPIC in April 2026)
• BLS through the American Heart Association (required)
• ACLS through the American Heart Association (required)
• PALS through the American Heart Association (required)
• Flu vaccine required for 2025/2026 season — no exemptions
• Ability to work rotating evening shifts and weekend call as part of the schedule

Education

• Current RN license to practice in Colorado (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in post-anesthesia patient assessment and monitoring
• Familiarity with PACU workflows and standards of nursing practice
• Competence using EPIC for documentation and clinical workflows
• Comfort working 12-hour shifts and adapting to rotating schedules
• Teamwork, leadership, and engagement in shared governance
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and communicate clearly with surgical and anesthesia teams
