Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams with care and professionalism, producing high-quality images for clinical interpretation
- Collaborate with physicians and the care team to ensure accurate, timely patient assessments
- Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures clearly, and maintain patient comfort and safety
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols
- Document exam findings and maintain accurate patient records in the imaging system
- Assist with departmental workflow and prioritize urgent studies during busy shifts
- Contribute to a positive patient experience through compassionate, patient-centered communication
Qualifications
- Certified or registry-eligible sonographer (e.g., RDMS/ARDMS) preferred
- Formal training in diagnostic medical sonography (certificate, associate degree, or equivalent)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
- Prior experience in ultrasound imaging preferred, OB/GYN experience a plus
- Excellent patient care skills and ability to work nights in a clinical environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Education
- Certificate or Associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field (or equivalent clinical training)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with ultrasound equipment and image acquisition techniques
- Knowledge of anatomy, sonographic principles, and exam protocols
- Ability to recognize and escalate abnormal findings appropriately
- Familiarity with PACS and electronic health record documentation
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management
- Comfort working independently during night shifts and in fast-paced situations
