Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients quickly and accurately, prioritizing care based on acuity
- Provide advanced life support interventions including airway management and medication administration
- Collaborate closely with the ED team to hand off patients safely and thoroughly
- Document patient care clearly, concisely, and in compliance with hospital policies
- Operate and maintain emergency equipment and supplies to ensure readiness
- Communicate compassionately with patients and families during stressful moments
- Participate in training, drills, and quality improvement efforts to elevate team performance
Qualifications
- Current Paramedic license or certification (state or National Registry) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced certifications such as ACLS preferred
- Valid driver license and ability to meet hospital credentialing requirements
- Comfort working in a fast-paced emergency environment and making quick decisions
- Clean background check and up to date immunizations per facility policy
Education
- Paramedic certificate or diploma from an accredited program
- High school diploma or GED required; additional college coursework or degree preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency assessment and triage skills
- Proficiency with advanced airway techniques and cardiac monitoring
- Medication administration and IV therapy experience
- Clear, calm communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Competence with electronic patient care documentation
- Ability to remain organized and decisive under pressure
