Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform clinical laboratory testing accurately and efficiently to deliver timely patient results
- Operate and maintain core laboratory instruments, ensuring proper calibration and documentation
- Follow quality control and quality assurance protocols to uphold laboratory standards
- Process and handle specimens according to protocols for safety and integrity
- Document results and maintain clear records in the laboratory information system
- Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to support patient care and troubleshoot issues
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements
Qualifications
- Current California CLS license or MLS certification required
- CLS Generalist scope of practice (microbiology not required)
- TB clearance completed within the past 12 months (required)
- Prior clinical laboratory experience preferred; ready to jump in and contribute from day one
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality-driven laboratory work
Education
- MLS or California Clinical Laboratory Scientist certification required; Associate or Bachelor degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical laboratory testing principles and specimen handling best practices
- Quality control, QA processes, and documentation standards
- Experience with common laboratory instrumentation and routine maintenance
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems and accurate result entry
- Good communication skills for working with multidisciplinary clinical teams
