Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (night schedule). Expect to work three 12-hour night shifts per week, every other weekend and every other holiday. Orientation includes one 8-hour daytime onboarding day followed by up to two 12-hour orientation nights.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical and stroke patients on a 25-bed unit
• Manage and monitor complex post-operative needs including drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes
• Administer and titrate IV therapies such as heparin drips safely and according to protocol
• Perform wound care and dialysis-related support for patients when needed
• Assess and manage acute conditions including AKI, COPD exacerbations, altered mental status, and CIWA/withdrawal
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Document care accurately in Epic and participate in required onboarding modules

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to practice in Illinois)
• Recent Med/Surg experience and prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record
• Stroke certification required (RNs who are stroke certified preferred)
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and able to commit to three 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and holiday
• Able to complete one 8-hour daytime onboarding day plus up to two 12-hour orientation shifts and hit the ground running

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med/Surg nursing skills with emphasis on stroke care
• Experience with wound care and management of drains and chest tubes
• Competence with feeding tube care and post-operative patient needs
• Skill in managing IV drips (including heparin) and acute medication titration
• Familiarity with dialysis care and AKI management
• Ability to manage CIWA/withdrawal and COPD exacerbations
• Proficient documentation and workflow in Epic
