Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality occupational therapy services across outpatient, inpatient and long-term care settings
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each patient
- Deliver home visits and village-based care, adapting treatment to limited-resource settings
- Teach ADL and therapeutic exercise programs and use modalities like ultrasound and electrical stimulation when appropriate
- Document patient care clearly and communicate effectively with medical staff and administrative teams
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary providers to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes
- Modify care plans based on age-specific and patient-specific needs, demonstrating cultural respect
- Participate in competency checks, required screening, and onboarding processes to maintain compliance
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in Alaska OR holding a good-standing OT license in another state while awaiting Alaska licensure
- Current NBCOT certification required
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (required)
- No minimum clinical experience required — new grads welcome; clinical experience preferred
- Ability to meet comprehensive onboarding requirements (immunizations/titers, background checks, drug screen, ID/SSN, references)
- Comfort with travel (village travel/home visits) and working with culturally diverse populations
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment and individualized treatment planning
- Occupational therapy patient care across the lifespan
- Home visit and village travel clinical skills
- ADL training and therapeutic exercise prescription
- Experience with ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities
- Clear, professional patient documentation and medical correspondence
- Cross-cultural communication and community-centered care
- Didactic teaching skills and incorporation of evidence-based practice
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with medical providers and long-term care teams
