Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across the unit, including assessment and treatment planning
• Manage ventilators, oxygen therapy, airway management, and aerosolized medication delivery
• Perform diagnostic testing and monitoring such as ABGs and pulmonary function assessments
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Educate patients and families on respiratory disease management and home care
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and clinical competency maintenance

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist credential (CRT or RRT) and eligibility for or possession of state licensure
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS/PALS as required by facility
• Demonstrated clinical competence in respiratory care procedures and ventilator management
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Comfort with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Prior acute care or hospital experience preferred

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program
• Completion of NBRC credentialing (CRT or RRT) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, ventilator settings and modes
• Skilled in patient assessment, airway management, and emergency response
• Familiarity with pulmonary diagnostics and interpretation of blood gas results
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm under pressure
• Strong teamwork, teaching and patient education abilities
