Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care and treatments to patients across acuity levels
• Operate and manage ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment safely
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results to guide care
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to create patient-centered plans
• Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and support code events when needed
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and workflows

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• CRT or RRT credential preferred; RRT highly desirable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Comfort and experience with ventilator management and emergency airway procedures
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Ability to provide compassionate, patient-focused care in a fast-paced setting

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent required
• Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in ventilator modes, settings, and troubleshooting
• Skilled in airway management, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medication delivery
• Ability to analyze arterial blood gases and adjust treatments accordingly
• Familiarity with pulmonary function testing and respiratory diagnostics
• Competency with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Sound clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in urgent situations
