Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to adult and geriatric MS/Telemetry patients
• Continuously monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias and act quickly with rapid response or code teams when needed
• Perform IV therapy, start and maintain IVs and manage PICC and central lines safely
• Access and manage ports, administer blood products and follow heparin protocols
• Support hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients and manage Continuous Bladder Irrigation when required
• Manage chest tubes, tracheostomies and high-flow nasal cannula care with confidence
• Deliver feeding tube care and medication administration with accuracy
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic while communicating clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Float between like units as needed to meet patient and facility needs while maintaining high standards

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice (pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Telemetry nursing experience (first-timers accepted but 2 years preferred)
• BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Travel nursing experience preferred and traveling nurses are accepted
• Ability and willingness to float to similar units as requested by the facility
• Weekend coverage every other weekend is required
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Charge nurse experience, teaching hospital exposure, or Trauma Level II experience are a plus

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not strictly required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring with strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Epic charting proficiency
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line care
• Port access and blood product administration
• Chest tube care (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy and high-flow nasal cannula management
• Feeding tube care and enteral support
• Hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis basics, CBI management
• Wound care including Wound Vac, isolation precautions and PPE use
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams and emergency response skills
• Strong communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary support services
