Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation for adult and neonatal patients, applying best practices to optimize respiratory support
• Provide specialized Level 3 NICU respiratory care, including delicate neonatal interventions
• Administer surfactant during deliveries as appropriate and participate in delivery support when needed
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators commonly used on the unit, including PB 840 and Draeger models
• Document assessments, interventions, and ventilator changes accurately in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Participate in unit initiatives to improve respiratory outcomes and contribute to quality improvement efforts
• Educate patients and families about respiratory therapy plans and device use in an empathetic, clear manner

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Minimum 2 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience (as listed)
• Experience with adult patients and Level 3 NICU care (required)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR for documentation
• Hands-on experience or comfort working with PB 840 and Draeger ventilators
• Experience or comfort administering surfactant during neonatal deliveries
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to support variable patient ratios and weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical ventilation strategies for adult and neonatal patients
• Neonatal respiratory care principles and Level 3 NICU workflows
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical records
• Comfort operating and troubleshooting PB 840 and Draeger ventilators
• Clear clinical judgment, strong communication, and collaborative teamwork
• Accurate clinical documentation and time management under variable patient ratios
