Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead meaningful psychotherapeutic group activities for adults, adolescents, children and geriatric patients
• Complete Activity Therapy Assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• Run multiple groups per day (typically up to four), serving as primary group facilitator while coordinating with RNs and techs
• Document assessments, treatment plans and group progress thoroughly in Cerner
• Adapt activities to meet the clinical and cultural needs of diverse patients
• Use multimedia and Webex-capable equipment to enhance group engagement when appropriate
• Collaborate with the psychiatric social services team to support seamless inpatient and outpatient transitions
• Contribute to a patient-centered environment that supports recovery and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (activity therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, dance movement therapy, occupational therapy, expressive arts therapy)
• Certification, licensure or registration in the appropriate area (examples: LRT, LRT-A, CTRS, ATR, MT, R-DMT) or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years experience running therapeutic groups within the field
• Comfortable documenting in Cerner and completing assessments/treatment plans
• Strong group facilitation skills and ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
• If needed, licensed clinicians such as LCSW, LCMHC or LMFT may be considered

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in group facilitation and activity therapy assessment
• Skilled in psychotherapeutic group planning and delivery across age groups
• Proficient with medical record documentation and Cerner
• Ability to design engaging, evidence-informed activities for inpatient settings
• Strong communication, teamwork and clinical judgment
• Comfort with using technology (laptops, Webex, multimedia) in groups
