Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care and interventions to patients with respiratory insufficiencies and critical needs
- Manage mechanical ventilation and perform ventilator adjustments safely and effectively
- Perform and interpret arterial blood gases to guide clinical decision making
- Administer respiratory therapies including nebulizers, CPAP, BiPAP, CPT, and other therapeutic modalities
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately in the Meditech EMR
- Support a fast-paced unit by prioritizing tasks, triaging effectively, and maintaining a patient-first focus
Qualifications
- Active RRT credential (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
- BLS, ACLS, NRP required
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care hospital RRT experience
- Experience with mechanical ventilation and ABG analysis
- Meditech EMR experience preferred by the director
- Trauma experience is a plus and will be considered first
Knowledge & Skills
- Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management (Servo I, Hamilton, V60, Astral familiarity a plus)
- ABG analysis and interpretation
- CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizer therapies, and chest physiotherapy (CPT)
- Strong critical thinking, triage, and patient assessment skills
- Clear, collaborative communication with interdisciplinary teams
- Accurate clinical documentation and EMR navigation (Meditech)
