Roles & Responsibilities
- Direct pharmacy operations across assigned sites and lead the regional team to deliver safe, efficient care
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards in partnership with the director
- Oversee budgeting, inventory control, and pharmacy information systems to ensure operational excellence
- Drive medication safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts that protect patients
- Collaborate with medical staff and cross-functional teams to solve problems and optimize workflows
- Represent pharmacy on key committees (Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Safety, Information Systems, Patient Medication Safety)
- Manage human resources activities including hiring, performance evaluations, development, and corrective actions
- Step in as needed to perform pharmacy manager duties and support site-level operations
Qualifications
- PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) — graduation from an accredited college or university
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in health-system pharmacy administration OR equivalent leadership experience
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in Illinois (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory/management experience in a pharmacy or health-system setting
- Proven experience with pharmacy information systems, budgeting, inventory control, and quality assurance
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to work with clinical and operational teams
Education
- PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy)
- ASHP-accredited PGY2 in health-system pharmacy administration preferred or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Pharmacy operations and pharmacy management
- Policy development and regulatory compliance
- Quality assurance and medication safety practices
- Budgeting and inventory control
- Pharmacy information systems and charge/inventory workflows
- Committee participation (P&T, Safety, Information Systems, Patient Medication Safety)
- Human resources fundamentals for staffing, development, and performance management
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with medical staff and hospital teams
