Shift Type: Day shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM with call coverage after 3:00 PM and weekend call; night coverage is on-call. Schedule includes floating to other ORs as needed (days/times may vary based on unit needs).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular and open heart procedures such as CABG and valve replacements
• Maintain a sterile field and ensure surgical asepsis throughout cases
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and the surgical team during complex cardiothoracic cases
• Safely manage and monitor specialized devices and therapies (ECMO, Impella) in collaboration with the team
• Coordinate patient care before, during, and after surgery, ensuring 1:1 patient management when required
• Document care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Float to other OR service lines as needed while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (required)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (cardiovascular/OR experience preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Hands-on experience with cardiothoracic/open heart procedures (CABG, valve cases, ECMO, Impella highly desirable)
• Comfortable using Meditech EMR and standard OR equipment
• Dependable, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment

Education

• Active RN license required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiothoracic surgical procedures and perioperative care
• Proficiency with OR sterile technique and instrumentation
• Familiarity with ECMO, Impella, CABG and valve replacement workflows
• Experience working in a 1:1 patient ratio environment and high-acuity cases
• EMR proficiency (Meditech) and accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; dependable and adaptable
