Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for orthopedic surgery patients
• Perform post-operative assessments and manage pain and mobility needs
• Execute wound care, dressing changes and suture or staple removal with precision
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and according to protocol
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to support continuity
• Collaborate with surgeons, physical therapy and interdisciplinary team members to optimize recovery
• Use safe patient handling equipment and assistive devices to promote mobility and prevent injury
• Act as a team player on nights, supporting colleagues and adapting to a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Active NC Registered Nurse license (required)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience, preferably with orthopedic or med-surg exposure
• BLS certification required
• Comfortable working night shifts and every other weekend schedule
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR preferred
• Ability to provide compassionate, family-like care and work well in a team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN, ADN or BSN) preferred
• Current RN licensure in North Carolina

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven skills in orthopedic post-op nursing and med-surg principles
• Experience with wound VAC maintenance and removal
• Competence in Foley catheter and NG tube care
• Familiarity with dressing changes and suture/staple removal
• Comfort using Cerner for documentation and order entry
• Ability to manage multiple patients safely within stated patient ratios
• Knowledge of safe lift devices and mobility aids such as Sara Stedy, Maxi Move and Hoyer-type equipment
