Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and other infusion therapies safely and according to established protocols
- Assess patients’ health histories and ongoing status to guide individualized care
- Manage physician orders and coordinate in-office procedures with attention to detail
- Monitor patients frequently—physical and emotional well-being are both priorities
- Provide patient and family education to support treatment understanding and adherence
- Triage patient care needs and act as a central communicator between patients and providers
- Contribute to quality improvement and maintain compliance with Cancer Care policies and infection control standards
- Collaborate with the cancer care team and perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) — oncology/infusion experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of chemotherapy administration experience (required)
- EPIC clinical documentation experience (required)
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Administration Certification (required)
- Strong assessment, triage, and patient education skills
- Comfort working in an outpatient infusion setting and managing complex care plans
Education
- Nursing education leading to RN licensure (ADN or BSN typical)
Knowledge & Skills
- Chemotherapy administration and safe handling practices
- Infusion nursing and oncology-specific symptom management
- Patient monitoring, assessment, and triage
- Patient & family education best practices
- Physician order management and clinical documentation (EPIC experience)
- Effective clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork in cancer care
