Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate pediatric critical care for patients in the PICU
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support for critically ill children
• Titrate sedation, vasoactive and paralytic infusions safely and per protocol
• Perform and assist with intubation/extubation and advanced airway management
• Monitor and interpret telemetry/EKG/EEG and respond to changes in patient status
• Coordinate sedated MRI preparations and assist with procedures like spinal taps
• Access and discontinue ports, manage central lines, and maintain sterile technique
• Document care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and manage medications via Pyxis/Alaris pumps

Qualifications

• Active RN (Registered Nurse) license (current) — able to practice as an RN
• Minimum 1 year pediatric ICU (PICU) nursing experience (must have)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Comfortable with ventilator management, intubation/extubation, and titration of critical drips
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, and Alaris IV pump preferred
• Able to work independently, prioritize, multitask, and collaborate with a small team (6-bed unit)

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care principles and 1:1–1:2 patient ratio management
• Ventilator management, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen systems
• Medication titration for sedation, vasoactive agents, and paralytics
• Telemetry/EKG/EEG monitoring and interpretation
• Sedated MRI workflow and peri-procedural care for pediatric patients
• Port access/discontinuation and central line care
• Use of Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, infant warmers and common PICU equipment
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR and Pyxis medication systems
