Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing to ICU patients, using evidence-based practice
• Administer and titrate complex medications including vasopressors with precision
• Continuously monitor hemodynamic and ventilatory status and respond to changes promptly
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear, timely records
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and care plans with compassion
• Adhere to unit policies, attendance guidelines, and the Methodist floating policy as needed
• Support unit flow by assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses are not accepted)
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIH training/requirements as listed by the facility (NIH REQUIRED)
• Minimum 2+ years of recent critical care/ICU experience
• Experience managing vasopressors and other high-acuity interventions
• Meditech experience preferred
• Reliable attendance and ability to work rotating weekends

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required (Active Texas RN license; temp licenses not accepted)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and clinical judgment
• Proficient with titration of vasoactive medications and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure environments
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and respond to rapidly changing situations
• Comfort with floating to different units when needed
