Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate patient care to medical-surgical and critically ill patients
- Operate and monitor advanced equipment including ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and multiple IV pumps
- Perform frequent patient assessment and advanced monitoring to detect and respond to changes quickly
- Manage chest tubes and invasive lines with skill and attention to infection prevention
- Act as a clinical leader on the unit and assist with precepting new staff
- Coordinate care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning
- Collaborate with providers, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure (required)
- BLS and ACLS required
- PALS, ENPC, TNCC certifications preferred
- Experience practicing in an advanced medical/surgical setting with recent critical care nursing experience required
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and provide clinical direction to team members
Education
- Degree from an accredited Nursing program (ADN or BSN) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced nursing principles and procedures for critically ill patients
- Ventilatory support and ventilator management
- Central, arterial and other invasive line care
- IV pump setup and troubleshooting
- Chest tube management
- Advanced patient monitoring and rapid assessment skills
- Strong communication, teamwork, and precepting skills
- Comfort using basic office equipment and documentation systems
