Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care to adults on the K9A Oncology/Women's Surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments, monitor patient status, and intervene promptly to ensure safe outcomes
• Administer medications and collaborate on chemotherapy administration when appropriately certified
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Cerner to maintain clear communication across the care team
• Coordinate discharge planning and patient education to support recovery and continuity of care
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient ratios and staffing
• Respond to urgent situations and assist with procedures such as thoracentesis and echocardiogram monitoring as needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with oncology or med-surgical experience preferred
• Chemo Certification preferred and will make you a top candidate
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR for documentation and care coordination
• Ability to work night shifts and provide weekend coverage as scheduled
• Team-player attitude, willingness to learn, and strong communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and safe chemotherapy handling
• Med-surgical nursing practices and patient care fundamentals
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record system
• IV therapy, medication administration, and patient assessment skills
• Ability to manage patient ratios around 1:4 or 1:5
• Familiarity with common unit procedures like thoracentesis and echo support
• Strong teamwork, time management, and patient education skills
