Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients' communication and swallowing function using evidence-based approaches
- Develop individualized treatment plans that are meaningful and measurable
- Provide skilled speech-language therapy interventions and adjust care based on patient progress
- Document clinical findings, plans, and outcomes clearly and timely in the medical record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on strategies to support communication and safe swallowing
- Maintain professional standards by completing required competency exams and agency checklists
- Participate in department meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active ASHA certification (CCC-SLP)
- Current Michigan speech license (required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
- Valid driver’s license with photo ID
- Successful background check and drug screening
- Completion of required agency paperwork and exams (Prime Core Competencies, Skills Checklist, Specialty Exam)
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB test records, and ability to provide health attestations
- Relevant clinical experience in adult or pediatric settings preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of speech-language pathology assessment and therapy techniques
- Skilled in dysphagia evaluation and management
- Comfortable with clinical documentation and following facility EMR workflows
- Excellent communication and family-centered education skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Familiarity with infection control, clinical safety, and credentialing processes
- Preparedness to complete Prime competency exams and agency-specific checklists
